Samantha's Travel Duster came today...

So CS told me it came with the parasol, and for $30 I assumed it would too. No. It's just the coat, which isn't even lined; the scarf, which is simply a piece of brocade ribbon that's hemmed on the ends; and the hat, which is too big for the box, so it's flipped up on one side, and currently on my sideboard with books laying on top of it. I was a little disappointed, and was on the verge of selling it on eBay, since I know I can get more than I paid for out of it; but, then I tried it on her, and all reasoning went out the window. It's adorable, and I know I would kick myself later if I sold it now, and had to buy it again someday down the road. I just wish I could get the silly parasol!

I'm glad you tried it on her because it really is adorable! It isn't lined because these dusters were not meant to be coats, just something lightweight that would keep clothing dust-free. And the hat?

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">Please take it out from under the books! It is meant to be turned up on one side - that was the style of this cute hat! This picture didn't scan too well, but it is from the Spring 2002 catalog when this outfit was first introduced.



Edited to add: I'm sorry CS told you that the parasol came with the duster. They were originally packaged separately - the parasol, stereoscope, and comb and brush set were a set called Samantha's Travel Accessories. Evidently, you got one of the original sets at the later, higher price. [img]frown.gif[/img]

Yep - my set didn't come with the parasol, either. I bet with a little hunting you cuold find it. Or maybe someone will keep an eye out for it at the MCM?

Actually just to let you guys know, the parasol was always something you had to buy seperate I believe..........it was part of the accesories set for the outfit.

Genevieve, If someone found it for me at the MCM sale, I'd kiss the ground they walk on. But considering the limits, and the fact that those who are going don't really want to remember other people's wishlists along with their own, I don't think I'll be holding my breath!


Rachel, Unfortunately CS told me it did come with it, and without a catalogue that had an item description, I went by what CS said. It's okay though, it's a beautiful set.

At one time, the duster did come with the parasol. That's how it came packaged for me- duster, hat, parasol, scarf. But I guess at the end they were selling the older sets without the parasol at the regular price. It is a darling set though, isn't it?
